Maryland State Trooper Shoots Suspect

Maryland State Police were involved in a high-speed chase late Sunday night that ended with a trooper shooting a man.

Police began their chase in Baltimore, following an SUV they identified as stolen.

The suspect led them on a chase that took them to Prince George's County.

Police finally stopped him near Ritchie Marlboro Road on the Beltway.

The man, 23 year old Thorne Wright, was shot in the hand when police say he made a threatening move.

Wright was treated and is now at a Baltimore hospital.  In addition to facing criminal and traffic charges, he also faces charges of violating his probation from an earlier crime.

The trooper involved in the shooting has been placed on routine administrative leave.
