Maryland Man Charged With Sexual Abuse at a Day Care

A Montgomery County man is accused of sexually abusing two young girls at a home day care run by his wife. News4's Pat Collins spoke to some clients to find out what they think about the charges. (Published Thursday, April 25, 2013)

A Maryland man was charged with the sexual abuse of two children that took place at Playing and Learning Family Child Care in the basement of a residence in the 18000 block of Royal Bonnett Circle in Montgomery Village.

The mother of a 3-year-old girl noticed an inflammation while giving the girl a bath, News4's Pat Collins reported. The girl's 7-year-old sister said she believed it happened at the daycare because the same thing had happened to her when she went to the day care.

Detectives say Zaraysi allegedly assulted the girls during naptime when his wife would go upstairs to let the children rest.

After an investigation, Montgomery County Police arrested 66-year-old Javier Zaraysi, the husband of the day care provider, on March 14. Zaraysi was charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of committing a second-degree sex offense, and two counts of committing a third-degree sex offense. He is being held on $500,000 bond.

On the door of the daycare Thursday evening, a sign reading "He is innocent" was posted, Collins reported.

Authorities are still determining whether or not other children who attended the day care were also sexually abused.

Anyone with knowledge of additional inappropriate contact between Zaraysi and a child or any patron of the day care that believes their child may have also been a victim should contact the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400.
