Police say a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Gainesville, Virginia, has been taken into custody after nearly a month on the run.

Alvin Burnett Jones, 32, was found at a home in Sterling. Virginia, on Tuesday, investigators say.

Jones was wanted in connection with the Sept. 12 shooting death of Claude Lee Jackson III. Two others were also injured in the incident.

Jones' arrest brings the number of people charged in the shooting to five. Wayne Carmichael Kennedy, 32; Calvin Jones, 31; Derrick Nathaniel Jones, 26, and David Lennel Broadnax, 31, were arrested shortly after Jackson's death.

Alvin Jones has been charged with murder, aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Kennedy has been charged with murder and aggravated malicious wounding. Calvin Jones is facing several charges, including murder, felony assault by mob, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Derrick Jones and Broadnax have been charged with accessory to murder and felony assault by mob.

Police say the suspects and the victims knew one another and were involved in a verbal altercation the week before the shooting.
