A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County early Sunday.
Fairfax County police said the man was crossing Richmond Highway (Route 1) at Belvoir Drive when he was hit by a car about 3 a.m.
The man was pronounced dead about three hours later. He was not identified immediately.
The road was closed early Sunday but later reopened. Police did not say if the driver was arrested or any citations were issued.
