Man Dead after Boating Accident Near Severn River

Authorities are investigating after a man died while boating in Anne Arundel County.

Police from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources were called around 5:30 p.m. Friday to Plum Creek, which is off the Severn River in Crownsville.

Spokeswoman Candy Thomson says the 66-year-old man was piloting a 33-foot center-console boat back from a trip through Middle River to Plum Creek when he suffered a medical emergency and fell into the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the man's name. Another spokesman for the Natural Resources Police, Sgt. Brian Albert, says the man may have suffered a heart attack.
