D.C. Police have arrested and charged a man with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old.
Dawud Debruhl was walking on the 1300 block of Columbia Road Northwest on March 14 when a man walked up, shot Debruhl and walked away, Police Chief Peter Newsham said.
Deontay Britton, 25, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the killing.
The killing came after police released data showing homicides are up 52 percent from the same time last year.
"There's a lot of people out here. Anyone who's gonna pull out a handgun, under those circumstances, they don't care about public safety," Newsham told News4 previously. He said the shooting was brazen and targeted.
