A Maryland prison inmate will wait a little longer to be sentenced for his violent escape from an outdoor work crew in Garrett County.
A winter storm prompted the postponement Monday of the sentencing in Oakland of 40-year-old Larry Johnson.
He could get life plus 70 years added to his prison term for escape, carjacking and attempted first-degree murder.
Johnson left a highway work crew in September 2012 and used a pair of pliers to stab a correctional officer in the torso. He then got behind the wheel of a prison van, wrecked that vehicle, flagged down a motorist, stabbed him in the head, stole his car and hit a tree.
Johnson was serving a 20-year sentence for carjacking and handgun convictions in Prince George's County.
