17-Year-Old Seriously Hurt in Hit-and-Run in Silver Spring

A suspected hit-and-run driver came forward to police Tuesday after a 17-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in Silver Spring Monday night.

Two Montgomery County police officers found Quasim Shinar Williams of Silver Spring was on the northbound side of Columbia Pike (Route 29) about 10:20 p.m.

He was crossing Route 29 near Tech Road when a northbound vehicle struck him and then fled the scene, Montgomery County Police said.

Williams was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Detectives determined the striking vehicle might be a dark gray Honda SUV with possible front-end damage and missing a passenger-side mirror, police said.
