Four Teens Charged in Robbery, Pepper-Spraying Officers at Bloomingdale's

Four teens have been charged with robbing a Bloomingdale's store in Friendship Heights and pepper-spraying the store's loss prevention officers.

Montgomery County Police announced the arrests Tuesday. They said that on July 3, six teens -- ranging in age from 16 to 18 -- entered the Bloomingdale's at 5300 Western Avenue and concealed merchandise. 

The teens then started to leave the store, but when the store's loss prevention officers tried to detain them, the suspects assaulted and pepper-sprayed them, police said. 

Police said Tuesday that four of the suspects, all juveniles, have been arrested and charged as adults: Germaine Johnson, 17; Ahmaad Mattocks, 17; Chyna Crawford, 17, and Tarjenay Edwards, 16.

Johnson, Mattocks and Edwards are all charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft. Crawford is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and theft.

Authorities also have arrest warrants for two other suspects: Tyler Muhammad, 16, and Special Roper, 18. Muhammad, who will also be charged as an adult, is wanted for armed robbery, first-degree assault, and other charges. Roper is wanted for armed robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, and other charges.

Detectives are asking for help finding them, as well as an additional unknown suspect from the robbery. Authorities did not specify how the seventh suspect was involved in the incident.
