Hampton, Va. -- An 18-year-old man shot the night manager and a pizza delivery man inside a Hampton University dorm before turning the gun on himself, police and school officials said Sunday. All three were hospitalized.
The suspect, a former Hampton U. student who is from Richmond, shot two Hampton men, ages 62 and 43, before shooting himself, police said in a statement.
No students were injured in the shooting reported about 1 a.m., Hampton police said.
The older victim is the night manager of the dormitory, Harkness Hall, said school spokeswoman Yuri Rodgers Milligan.
Officials did not have the motive for the shooting, which prompted a campus lockdown that continued Sunday morning while police investigated.
Per university policy, all students, faculty and staff were notified about the situation via text message and e-mail.
Hampton University is a private school in southeastern university with about 5,700 students. It was founded in 1868 during Reconstruction to educate black leaders for the newly freed slaves.
