Virginia Girl Scout Leader Accused of Child Sex Crimes

News4's Kristin Wright reports on the charges against a Girl Scout leader accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl and possessing child pornography. (Published Tuesday, March 24, 2015)

A former Girl Scout leader is under arrest on numerous felony counts of child pornography and indecent liberties with a child while in a custodial role.

Chad Leroy Miller, 47, of Spotsylvania, was a Girl Scout leader and family friend of the 14-year-old female victim. Miller is also being reported as a person of interest in a similar investigation in Fairfax, Virginia.

According to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Department, Miller allegedly sent the victim a link to a pornographic website and made inappropriate contact with the child.

An investigation of Miller’s residence by detectives and investigators from Child Protective Services provided several items of evidence that corroborated initial investigative findings. Several hundred pornographic images involving children were found on the cell phones and computers collected at Miller’s home.

Sheriff’s detectives are requesting that anyone with information in this case or any other potential victims contact Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office at (540) 582-7116 or Detective Twyla DeMoranville at (540) 507-7673, or text SEE911 and the tip to CRIMES (274637).
