Taxi Driver Assaulted by Passenger in Prince William County

Police: Accuser ordered the driver out of the vehicle before getting in the drivers seat and driving away

A cab driver was attacked by a passenger early Monday morning, according to Prince William County police.

The 29-year-old taxi driver was stopped at a traffic light in the area of Prince William Parkway and York Drive in Woodbridge, Va., about 2:45 a.m., when his passenger began to assault him from the back seat, authorities said.

The passenger ordered the victim out of the taxi cab, got into the driver seat and drove away, police said.

Officials were able to use the taxi’s GPS to track the vehicle to Fairfax County. Fairfax County police located the vehicle and arrested the driver in Lorton.

Margarito Avalar Escobar, 29, of Chantilly, is charged with carjacking and is being held without bond.
