Emergency Drill for Metro's Silver Line

Officials will be conducting an emergency response drill this weekend at one of the soon-to-open stations on the Silver Line.

Metro says the goal of Sunday's exercise at the Spring Hill station will be to test response capabilities and build coordination ahead of the opening of the Silver Line on July 26. The exercise will involve evacuating a disabled train and responders will practice safely evacuating passengers using emergency equipment.

The exercise will begin at about 8 a.m. and is expected to take several hours to complete.

Metro says the agencies participating in the drill include Metro Transit Police, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Fire and Rescue Department, the Fairfax County Office of Emergency Management and Virginia State Police.
