Detention Hearings Postponed for Officers Charge in Corruption Probe

Detention hearings for two Prince George's County, Md., police officers charged in a federal probe were postponed as family and friends of one officer packed a Greenbelt courtroom.

Sgt. Richard Delabrer and Cpl. Chong Chin Kim were among nine people, including another police officer, who were arrested Monday as part of a federal corruption probe.

Delabrer's family and friends crowded the courtroom Thursday as his attorney sought a delay, saying the sergeant could face financial hardship because the federal indictment seeks forfeiture of his assets. Prosecutors are seeking $3.5 million, 25 properties and 13 vehicles.

Delabrer's hearing was delayed until Dec. 7, but he remains in custody. Kim's hearing was also postponed and he remains in custody as well.
