Drivers in the District are getting a welcomed Christmas gift: free parking!
D.C.'s Department of Public Works said it would not ticket drivers with expired meters Friday or Saturday. The department also temporarily suspended residential and rush-hour parking restrictions.
Drivers should still be careful, though. Metro Police can still give you the gift of a citation if you park in an emergency zone or in front of a fire hydrant.
