Credit Cards Stolen While Singers Performed Carols

While the Thomas Circle Singers performed Christmas carols to raise money for the homeless, a group leader says someone took off with members' identification and credit cards.

Group leaders say while the ensemble performed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Sunday at an event to benefit Thrive D.C., 15 credit and debit cards and identification cards were taken from an unlocked basement room where performers left their belongings. They say thousands of dollars were charged to the cards before they were discovered missing.

D.C. police say they are investigating as victims continue to file complaints.

The choir was formed in 1976 to raise money for the homeless. Board President Clark Cheney says the incident has been disruptive and members are disappointed, but they will continue their mission.
