    Live Electric Wire Lands on Construction Worker in Alexandria

    A construction worker in Alexandria is shocked by a live electrical wire knocked down on the site. (Published Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016)

    A construction worker was seriously injured after a live wire fell on top of him at a construction site in Alexandria, Virginia, Wednesday morning. 

    A crane operator at the construction site in the 700 block of Wythe Street hit an electrical wire just before 7:30 a.m., Crystal Nosal with the Alexandria Police Department said. The wire fell down to the street, striking 44-year-old construction worker who was nearby.

    The victim suffered electrical burns and has been taken to a local hospital. He is in critical but stable condition, according to police. 

    Many traffic lights in the area were without power for a short time because of the accident.
