A 14-year-old boy struck by a tour bus near the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C., on Friday has died, U.S. Park Police say.
The boy had been in critical condition after he was pinned under the bus on the 1900 block of Independence Ave. SW along the National Mall, fire officials said.
Dramatic video showed several D.C. firefighters working to get the child out from underneath the front of the bus. They then got the boy into a medevac.
He was taken to Children's National Medical Center in D.C., where he died Thursday afternoon, Park Police said.
Police interviewed the bus driver after the crash.
There did not appear to be a crosswalk nearby, News4's Shomari Stone reported at the time of the crash.

Park Police said it is still investigating the cause of the crash.
The bus company, QT Transport, gave the following statement on Friday:
"QT Transport wishes to express its sorrow and sympathy to the family impacted by this accident. QT Transport places safety at the highest level. We are fully cooperating with the Park Police as we work to find the cause of this accident. QT Transport has the highest rating with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration."
