Body of Missing Maryland Man Found After Boat Accident

The body of a Maryland boater who went missing on Monday has been recovered.

The body of John B. Jones, 47, of Baltimore, was found Wednesday near the Gunpowder River by Aberdeen Proving Ground Police, said the Maryland National Guard.

Jones had gone missing Monday, the day his boat was found abandoned and anchored in the Middle River area.

He was an airman and sergeant assigned to the Warfield Air National Guard Base in Middle River. He was twice deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 and 2010, and leaves behind a wife and child.

The guard said his cause of death is still under investigation.

Four people died in three separate boating accidents in Maryland waters Sunday and Monday.

Authorities have said it is unclear whether Jones' death was related to the severe storms that ran through the area Monday.
