Police: Armed Man Fatally Shot After Refusing to Drop Weapon

An armed man was fatally shot by police in southeast Washington Sunday night after he refused to put down his weapon, police said Monday.

Officers were called to the 4500 block of C Street SE around 10 p.m. after someone reported seeing a man with a gun in the area. When officers arrived, they encountered the armed man and ordered him to put his weapon down. An officer shot the man after he refused to do so.

The man, who police identified as 33-year-old Isaac Little of Southeast, was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

No officers were injured.

The scene is located near Plummer Elementary School. News4's Megan McGrath says it appears the investigation will not affect the start of the school day.

This the third police-involved shooting in the D.C. area in the last two days.

Over the weekend, Prince George's County Police were involved in two shootings. The first happened Saturday morning in Capitol Heights. Police say the 24-year-old man was fatally shot after reaching for a gun.

In Clinton, an officer was run over while trying to stop two men from stealing a car. When the suspects tried to drive away, two other officers started firing.

Both suspects are in critical condition but are expected to survive.
