Capitol Visitor Center Offers Capitol Visitors More History

50 historic docs displayed

WASHINGTON -- The Capitol Visitor Center put 50 new historic documents on display Monday.

Among them are the first draft of legislation declaring war on Germany during WWII, the second draft of the U.S. Constitution and a bill drafted by Abraham Lincoln in 1849 to abolish slavery in D.C.

The National Archives and the Library of Congress loaned the documents to the Capitol Visitor Center, which opened in December.
