16-Year-Old Driver Fatally Hits Woman in Crosswalk in Woodbridge

A pedestrian died Friday in Woodbridge, Virginia, after she was hit before dawn by a car driven by a 16-year-old girl, police say.

Zorka Vesovic was walking in a crosswalk when she was hit by the car, Prince William County Police said. The Woodbridge resident was 67.

According to the preliminary investigation, the teenager was driving a 2010 Hyundai Sonata west in the 3600 block of Graham Park Road when she hit Vesovic.

First responders arrived at the scene at about 6:50 a.m. 

Vesovic was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, who police did not name, was not hurt. She remained at the scene of the crash. No information was immediately released on whether she will be charged.

Virginia teens can get driver's licenses at age 16 and 3 months.
