Driver Dies After Crossing Highway Median in Maryland, Officials Say

A driver has died and two other people received minor injuries after officials say the driver crossed a highway median in Prince George's County and slammed into a bus head-on.

The crash occurred before 3:15 p.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue (Route 4) near U.S. 301. The male driver of the car that crossed Pennsylvania Avenue in Upper Marlboro, Maryland was pronounced dead on the scene. No passengers were on board the bus, which had an Academy logo on the side.

A preliminary investigation showed no signs the driver tried to brake, which may have indicated a medical emergency. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Traffic on Route 4 was delayed in both directions and later cleared.
