From the Golden Gate Bridge to Teaching Suicide Prevention

San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is a magnet for suicides. More people commit suicides from there than any other place in the world.

A man who survived his attempt and a retired police officer who worked predominately on the bridge now are focused on suicide prevention.

In the documentary The Bridge, which the New York Times called “One of the most moving and brutally honest films about suicide ever made,” Kevin Hines told his story. Now he travels the world spreading the importance of suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Sgt. Kevin Briggs retired from the California Highway Patrol in November to focus on promoting crisis management, leadership skills and suicide intervention and prevention globally.
