Disability Partnerships Offers 15-Minute Self-Defense Classes for People with Physical Disabilities at NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo

The classes are part of Disability Partnerships' "Wheels of Defense" program

Not only can you access resources for maintaining health and wellness at the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo, you can also learn about staying safe.

Self-defense classes will be available for people with physical disabilities and limited or no mobility for the first time at this year's Expo. Disability Partnerships will hold 15-minute self-defense classes Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The classes will offer verbal and physical strategies to stay safe in case of harassment or an attack along with general safety information, resources and support.

The Disability Partnerships, located at booth 1121, will hold the classes as part of โ€œWheels of Defense,โ€ a program launched over the summer of 2016 to help women with disabilities improve their safety and confidence.

The Expo will be held on Jan. 7 and 8 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Click here for complete schedules and hours.
