The winter clearance sale at Treat (114 S. Royal St., Alexandria) is going on as we speak (well, as WE type and you sit there on that same old couch you've had since college, but we're so not judging). The Old Town Alexandria store carries women's clothing and accessories that are already affordable (um, relatively speaking), calling itself a "sample sale boutique."
Carrying overstock and end-of-season merch from both local and national designers, Treat offers brands such as 3.1 Philip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg, Joe's Jeans and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Think of it as classy Old Town's version of a TJ Maxx or Marshall's. Located in an ivy-covered rowhouse. With pastel shutters. And Nanette Lepore instead of mall cast-offs. Yeah.
(Anyway, it means you don't have to get elbow-deep in huge wire mesh bins while 1992 pop music crackles over dusty speakers.)
The sale runs through Saturday, Jan. 31, but since Treat is only open Friday through Sunday, we suggest you get out there this weekend. Right now you'll get an extra 25% off the lowest marked price on any red-line sale item. You'll get an extra 30% if you buy any two or more sale items. And this stuff is already up to 50% off. We like that kind of math.
And if you're not saving up to buy a new couch any time soon, it's totally OK to do a teeny bit of splurging on some shoes.
