If you're tired of spending Wednesday nights with Chinese takeout and "CSI: NY" reruns, why not try something a bit more ... sustainable.
This Wednesday night, DC Live Green will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a blowout bash at Local 16 (1602 U St. NW). The eco-friendly festivity kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and will include organic drink specials, light fare from Java Green, and music provided by See-I with talent from Thievery Corporation.
DC Live Green "makes eco-friendly living and business practices easier and more affordable in DC and beyond," says its Web site. Anyone can obtain membership, which then provides you with support, advice and discounts for green products and services.
In its first year, the organization has labelled several businesses as "Live Green Spots" and has offered its members valuable info on living green. Still in its growth stage, Live Green hopes to expand its reach even further in its second year and continue to make a positive impact on DC's environment.
To claim your spot at this special shindig, make sure to RSVP. If not, you might just find yourself once again glued to the tube with General Tso and his chicken.
$15 at the door; discounts for Live Green members and volunteers and all pre-paid tickets
