Valentine's Day Killing in Greenbelt Shrouded in Mystery

WASHINGTON — Mystery continues to surround the Valentine’s Day killing of a young man in Greenbelt, Maryland. It happened inside the entrance of an apartment building, and police don’t know who killed Martin Nchotaku.

“Somebody took his life and we don’t know who it is or why they did it,” the victim’s brother Henry Nchotaku told NBC Washington.

The family said Nchotaku was killed on the eve of his 21st birthday.

“He didn’t even get a chance to even turn 21, an age that all of us look toward and he never got that chance,” the victim’s sister told the TV station.

Greenbelt police said they are actively investigating the killing but don’t yet have a suspect.

Nchotaku moved to the United States from Cameroon at age 11. The family has established a GoFundMe page with the hope of raising enough money to send his remains to a family burial plot in Cameroon.
