Traffic Blocked Following Fatal Indian Head Highway Crash

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — A fatal overnight crash on Indian Head Highway shut down traffic in both directions Friday morning.

According to Prince George’s County police, two cars collided head-on in the southbound lanes of the highway at around 2:30 a.m. Friday, just north of Palmer Road.

The northbound car was traveling in the wrong direction.

Both drivers, two adult males, were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in either car.

Police are not sure what may have led up to the crash or if the northbound car had crossed the median.

Police expect Indian Head Highway to be closed for at least part of the morning rush hour. It’s not clear when the road could reopen.
