Police: Woman Used Ruse to Enter Hospital, Kidnap Employee

WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia police say a woman who was posing fire extinguisher inspector tried to stab a hospital worker before kidnapping the employee.

Citing arrest records, WJLA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2nijZtQ) 21-year-old Lashawn Alexander used the ruse to gain access inside the emergency room at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center on March 2.

Police say Alexander tried to stab a female worker with a box cutter twice. Detectives say Alexander then forced the worker to take her across the hospital to see Alexander’s sister, but they never made it and the victim managed to call for help.

Documents show Alexander was charged Tuesday with kidnapping. It’s unclear what sparked the incident or why Alexander was charged days later.

The hospital said in a statement Wednesday that it is investigating.
