Police: Fatal DC Shooting Suspect at Large; Considered Armed and Dangerous

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are asking for the public’s help locating a man accused of fatally shooting a 19-year-old in Georgetown last month.

Around 3 a.m. July 8, police responded to a shooting in the 3500 block of Water Street in Northwest and found two men with gunshot wounds. One man, 19-year-old Kennedy Javier Amaya-Olivares, showed no signs of life and died. The second victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say 24-year-old Demarius Anton Jackson was involved in the shooting and is wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for second degree murder while armed.

Police say Jackson should be considered armed and dangerous.

He is described as a black man with a medium complexion who is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 130 pounds.

Police have not released any additional details about the case, including what led to the shooting.

Police are offering a $25,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to Jackson’s arrest and conviction. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.
