WASHINGTON — A Northern Virginia veterinary technician is facing animal cruelty charges after Manassas pet owners say she roughly handled their 2-year-old dog during a routine checkup last month, leading to fatal injuries.
The dog owners told police they had scheduled an appointment with NOVA Mobile Vet, which provides curbside veterinary services, last month. The owners said the technician, whom police later identified as Kimberly A. Skinner, 31, of Manassas, Virginia, “handled the dog with excessive force,” while she was transporting him to the company’s van outside. The dog later died.
Manassas City Animal Control officers and detectives investigated the incident and charged Skinner on Sept. 20 with cruelty to animals.
