Hurricane Threatens Outdoor Concerts in Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — As Hurricane Hermine bears down on Florida, the storm is already leading to the cancellation of some outdoor concerts in Virginia.

Promoters of the three-day American Music Festival in Virginia Beach this weekend say they will move indoors Saturday’s three headliners, UB40, the Wallflowers and Cracker. But promoters cancelled the day’s other shows on several stages lining the board walk.

Outdoor concerts for Friday and Sunday are still scheduled.

Bruce Springsteen is also set to play in Virginia Beach on Saturday night. The concert venue is the 20,000-capacity Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater, which is partially outdoors. LiveNation, the concert promoter, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment about the show’s status.
