Herndon Man Admits to Robbing 4 Banks in 1 Week Across 2 States

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A Virginia man has admitted to robbing four banks in New Jersey and Maryland over the course of a week in December 2016.

Bruce Wayne Higgins, of Herndon, pleaded guilty in federal court in Camden, New Jersey, on Wednesday.

Authorities say he robbed two banks in Baltimore and two at the New Jersey shore.

During a robbery in Ocean City, Higgins presented a teller with a note that read “GUN IN Pocket, MONEY NOW or -BANG-.”

He tried to rob one bank in Atlantic City the following day, but Higgins fled in a taxi after a teller tripped an alarm.

He then went to a nearby bank and handed a teller the same note. He was arrested with the money by Atlantic City police.

He faces up to 20 years in prison.
