Gridlock Downtown as Streets Shut for Investigation

WASHINGTON — The Warner Theatre and adjacent buildings were evacuated, out of what D.C. police say “an abundance of caution” as police investigated a suspicious package.

While the police activity is wrapping up, much of the downtown area is in gridlock, including E Street, 13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue are in gridlock.

WTOP traffic says Constitution Avenue also is jammed.

Traffic is backed up on Interstate 395 coming into the city.

Police say 14th Street is open.
