Ex-senior Services Employee Facing 70 Felony Charges

BEDFORD, Va. (AP) — A Bedford County woman is facing charges after police say she improperly used a debit card from the senior services company where she worked and wrote checks from a patient’s checkbook.

Media outlets report 31-year-old Rhonda Renay Overstreet was arrested Friday and charged with 22 counts of forgery, uttering and obtaining money and two counts each of credit card theft and embezzlement.

Bedford Police Lt. Shannon Walker says officers received a complaint June 7 of possible embezzlement from Croft Senior Services. The company’s owner said Overstreet used a company credit card and was writing checks from a client’s checkbook without the client’s knowledge.

Overstreet is accused of stealing nearly $20,000 in 2015 and 2016 from the company and one of the company’s clients.

It’s unclear if she has an attorney.
