Crews Work to Clear Derailed Train in Baltimore Tunnel

BALTIMORE (AP) — Authorities say crews have moved a derailed railcar that contains acetone from a Baltimore tunnel where a freight train derailed.

Fire department spokesman Samuel Johnson said Tuesday the car containing the flammable solvent was removed from the Howard Street tunnel, where at least 13 cars in a freight train derailed early Monday. Officials say there were no injuries or hazards to the public.

CSX spokesman Rob Doolittle said the 124-car train was headed from Philadelphia to Cumberland, Maryland, with eight locomotives when it derailed.

Crews are expected to work through the day to continue clearing the cars.
