Army Secretary Officially Arriving for His New Pentagon Job

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — U.S. Army Secretary Eric Fanning is officially moving into his new job with a ceremonial arrival in Arlington, Virginia.

Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley are welcoming Fanning on Monday to Summerall Field at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall near the Pentagon.

Fanning was sworn in May 19 as the civilian head of the Army. He is the first openly gay person to lead one of the nation’s military service branches.
