BALTIMORE (AP) — Authorities say a Pikesville man has been charged with fatally shooting a man during a robbery in 2009.
The U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland said Tuesday that a federal grand jury returned an indictment Tuesday charging Stanislav “Steven” Yelizarov with carrying and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, resulting in death.
Authorities say the 26-year-old could face up to life in prison or the death penalty.
Yelizarov is already serving a 30-year prison sentence for unrelated charges. He was sentenced April for leading an effort to steal guns from someone’s home and using the firearms to rob a jewelry store.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says Yelizarov does not yet have an attorney.
