WASHINGTON — Two people were seriously hurt after a vehicle struck a tree in Laurel, Maryland on Monday afternoon.
The crash happened off of Sandy Spring Road, in the 7400 block of Summerwind Circle, sometime between 1 and 1:30 p.m.
Rescuers had to free two trapped occupants from the vehicle, according to Mark Brady, a spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire and EMS.
The crash victims were taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center, City of Laurel spokeswoman Audrey Barnes said.
The names of the crash victims have not been released.
Brady said the two were transported with life-threatening injuries and he described their conditions as “critical,” but he later suggested in a tweet that the injuries may not have come from the crash.
Final U/D Laurel – injuries sustained may be injuries beyond vehicle crash injuries. Updates will need to come from @LaurelPD @LaurelPIO
