June is National LGBT Pride Month, and once again NBC4 and T44 are teaming up with Capital Pride for a month-long celebration of events and observances.
OUT@NBCUniversal is the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Straight Ally Employee Alliance, founded in 1986. OUT DC, officially launched in 2016, is coordinating PRIDE events throughout the month for NBC4, T44 and NBC News employees along with their families and friends. Look for our double-decker bus at the June 8th Pride Parade and visit our NBC4/T44 booth at the June 9th Pride Festival on Pennsylvania Avenue. On June 25th, NBC4 & T44 will host a private reception recognizing this year’s Capital Pride Honorees.

LGBTQ Pride Month is celebrated each year during the month of June. On June 2, 2000, President Bill Clinton declared June "Gay & Lesbian Pride Month.” The last Sunday in June is celebrated as Gay Pride Day.
President Barack Obama declared June 2010 to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, stating, “I call upon all Americans to observe this month by fighting prejudice and discrimination in their own lives and everywhere it exists.”
The month of June was chosen to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in NYC’s Greenwich Village that sparked the modern LGBT liberation movement in the United States.
