LivingSocial Brings Instant Deals to D.C.

Discount deal provider LivingSocial says it's testing a new service that will let D.C. customers get instant discounts in addition to the current daily deals.

Washington-based LivingSocial announced the new deal promotion on Monday. The company says that unlike the current daily deals, which arrive to subscribers via e-mail and are available for 24
hours, the instant deals will be available for shorter periods of time and be accessed on a person's mobile device.

The short duration of the deals will allow businesses to offer a discount during a slow lunch or dinner or to bring customers in for a promotion.

The one-month test of the instant deals will focus on Washington hot spots such as Dupont Circle, U Street and Chinatown.
