The District has opened its outdoor swimming pools for the season today, and D.C. residents swim free. For suburbanites whose pools just aren't good enough, there's a small fee.
There are 18 public pools to choose from, from Anacostia to Volta Park. Pool hours are 12-6 p.m. on the weekends and 1-8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
One warning, though, if you're lucky enough to be lounging around during the week: Pools close one weekday each week for scheduled service and maintenance.
