Southwest Fireworks Viewing: Now Available by Boat

Saturday night's dinner cruises offer a front-row view of the fireworks fest

If you’re not quite over the cherry blossoms, but also not quite sure about braving the crowds at this weekend's Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival, you can still enjoy both -- in style.

OK, so it's not quite your own private yacht. But you can hop on a fireworks dinner cruise and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the blossoms' arrival in D.C. while wearing your fancypants.

Along with "planted" (get it?) cherry blossom decals along the exterior of the ships, you'll also find a unique view of [what's left of] the blossoms from the water.

The Odyssey ($124.90 per person; three-course dinner) and the Spirit of Washington ($99.90 per person; buffet) will give you waterfront access to the fireworks show, plus dinner, live entertainment and supreme views.

The boats will set sail Saturday, April 7 from Gangplank Marina (6th and Water Streets, SW), two blocks from Metro via the Waterfront Station on the Green line.

The Odyssey boards at 5:30 p.m.; the Spirit of Washington boards at 6 p.m. Both sail from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Either way, you're facing a cash bar, so plan accordingly.
