Mystery Couple Wears RGIII Cowboys Jerseys

On a day when the Washington Redskins were celebrating their first visit to the playoffs since 2012 and winning their fourth straight of the season with a victory over the Dallas Cowboys, it was something on the sideline that garnered attention.

During warm-ups, two people were seen on the sidelines wearing Dallas Cowboys jerseys. Nothing unusual there, except these jerseys had the number 10 on the back and the name “RGIII” across the shoulders.

One photo on Twitter showed Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III greeting the pair and leading to speculation.

Some media reports said the people were relatives of Griffin, who spent his college career at Baylor University and grew up in Texas. However, both Griffin and the Redskins have denied any relationship between the embattled quarterback and the two people.

Griffin likely spent his last season with the team this season, never getting the chance to take the field after head coach Jay Gruden named Kirk Cousins to be the starting quarterback. Griffin has inactive for nearly the entire season, only getting into his uniform once when injuries decimated the team and they needed to have the requisite players suited up.

It is widely expected that the team will part ways with Griffin, allowing him to attempt to restart his career with another team. The Cowboys, who currently are committed to quarterback Tony Romo, is one possible location after they went through three different quarterback after Romo was injured.
