Former D.C. Councilmember Sekou Biddle is trying to win back his old seat.
Biddle filed papers Tuesday to run as a Democrat for the at-large council seat currently occupied by Democrat Vincent Orange.
Biddle finished third in a special election this year, behind Orange and Republican Patrick Mara. Orange had previously served two terms as a Ward 5 councilmember.
Biddle is a former State Board of Education member who served on the Council for four months. He was chosen by Democratic Party officials as an interim replacement for Kwame Brown after Brown was elected Council chairman.
The District's primary election will be held April 3.
