Jordan Executes 2 Prisoners to Avenge Pilot's Murder

Jordan executed two prisoners, including an Iraqi militant, on Wednesday morning to avenge the death of a Jordanian pilot who was purportedly burned alive by ISIS, a Jordanian police source confirmed to NBC News. The prisoners executed were Sajida al-Rishawi, an Iraqi woman whose release ISIS had demanded, and Zyad al-Karbouli, another Iraqi who previously had been sentenced to death. The Jordanian government promised swift revenge against ISIS after the militant group’s media arm released a video Tuesday showing Lt. Muath al Kasasbeh burning alive in a cafe. The executions came just hours after Jordanian King Abdullah met in Washington with President Barack Obama.
