Oldest Known Holocaust Survivor Dies at 110

The oldest known Holocaust survivor has died at the age of 110, NBC News reported. Alice Herz-Sommer survived a concentration camp in the Czech city of Terezin and went on to become an acclaimed pianist. Herz-Sommer said her piano playing played a part in saving her life. "As long as they wanted music, they couldn't put us in the gas chamber," Herz-Sommer said in a documentary released last year about her life and piano playing. Herz-Sommer later taught at the Jerusalem Conservatory until 1986 and then moved to London, according to the Britain Press Association.
