BETHESDA, Md. -- A school bus carrying five children struck and killed a 60-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon.
Police closed Arlington Road between Edgemoor Road and Wilson Lane to investigate. It remained closed during rush hour.
Sheila Humphries, a therapist and social worker at Bethesda Cares, a community outreach program for the homeless, was crossing Arlington Road when she was struck.
Humphries was taken to Suburban Hospital with serious head injuries and later was pronounced dead.
She was a widow who raised two boys by herself. They are adults, now, and Humphries was a grandmother.
