Two Army soldiers accused of attempted murder appeared in a Montgomery County court Tuesday.

The victim, Santiago Perez, says his ex-wife had someone try to kill him during a custody battle.

Luisa Paiz and Khiry Blue met while stationed at Fort Hood. While deployed to Afghanistan, they devised a plot, police said. But their stories differ.

Blue claims Paiz paid him $5,000 in June 2012 to kill Perez, according to court documents. She told police she paid Blue only to beat up Perez.

Perez says someone tried to strangle him.

Blue has already pleaded guilty. He is expected to testify Wednesday.
